Perebyinis, Vasyl [Перебийніс, Василь; Perebyjnis, Vasyl'], b 1 January 1898 in Mali Puzyrky, Iziaslav county, Volhynia gubernia, d 13 November 1966 in London. Painter, graphic artist, and stage designer. He studied at the Saint Petersburg and Cracow academies of art. An interwar émigré, from 1926 he lived in Paris, where he designed stage scenery and costumes and took part in many exhibitions. In 1931 he participated in the show of the Association of Independent Ukrainian Artists in Lviv. He illustrated many interwar books and almanacs published in Lviv and painted landscapes (many of Normandy), Paris street scenes, portraits, and still lives, in which postimpressionist influences competed with realist and surrealist ones. From 1946 he lived in London.
