Congress of Vienna

Congress of Vienna. A conference of representatives of the major powers involved in the Napoleonic Wars, which met in Vienna from September 1814 to June 1815 to settle the boundaries of the European states after Napoleon Bonaparte's defeat. The congress decided to turn the Congress Kingdom of Poland, including the Kholm region and the Podlachia region, over to the Russian Empire. The Ternopil region, which in the Treaty of Schönbrunn (1809) had been transferred to Russia, was returned to Austria. A key figure in the Russian imperial delegation to the congress was Andrii Rozumovsky.
