Halychanyn (1867–70)

Halychanyn (1867–70) (The Galician). A semimonthly sociopolitical and literary supplement to the Russophile newspaper Slovo (Lviv). A total of 90 issues were published in Lviv from January 1867 to 1870. The editor and publisher was B. Didytsky. Halychanyn appeared in yazychiie, an artificial mixture of Ukrainian and Russian. Its contents included articles dealing with the history of Ukraine, poetry by such writers as Mykhailo Maksymovych, Sydir Vorobkevych, and Kornylo Ustyianovych, as well as works by the Russian writers Ivan Turgenev, F. Tiutchev, and others.
