Holubovych, Vsevolod [ Holubovyč], b 1885 in Poltavka, Balta county, Podilia gubernia, d ? (Photo: Vsevolod Holubovych.) Political figure, journalist, and engineer. A graduate of the Kyiv Polytechnical Institute, he represented the Ukrainian Party of Socialist Revolutionaries (UPSR) in the Little Rada and General Secretariat of the Central Rada. In January 1918 he led the first Ukrainian National Republic delegation, which negotiated the Peace Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. From 30 January 1918 to Hetman Pavlo Skoropadsky's coup of 29 April, he was the prime minister and minister of foreign affairs in the Council of National Ministers of the Ukrainian National Republic. He was imprisoned by the Hetman government until its overthrow in December 1918. After the UPSR split in May 1918, Holubovych remained in its centrist current. In 1919–20, he published its daily Trudova hromada in Kamianets-Podilskyi and Vinnytsia. In 1921 a Bolshevik tribunal sentenced him in a show trial to five years in a concentration camp together with other members of the UPSR Central Committee, but he was soon amnestied and served as the chairman of the Supreme Council of the National Economy of the Ukrainian SSR until 1931, when he was again arrested and sentenced in the show trial of the ‘Ukrainian National Center’ (Mykhailo Hrushevsky's followers) and never heard from again.
