Lazarevska, Kateryna [Лазаревська, Катерина; Lazarevs’ka], b 20 August 1879 near Konotоp, Chernihiv gubernia, d 16 September 1939 in Kyiv. Historian and archeographer, specialist in paleography; daughter of Oleksander Lazarevsky. From 1919 she worked at the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, where she researched the socioeconomic and cultural history of 18th- and 19th-century Ukraine, the history of guilds in the Kyiv region and the Chernihiv region (pub in ZIFV, vol 5), and the Lazarevsky family genealogy (pub in Ukraïns’kyi arkheohrafichnyi zbirnyk, 1927, no. 2). She was the archeographic editor for vols 1–4 of Ukraïns’kyi arkhiv (1929, 1931) and volume 1 of the chronicle of Samiilo Velychko (1926). The journal Ukraïna (1914–30) published her articles on the letters of Osyp Bodiansky to her father (1926, no. 1), the general survey of landholdings of Starodub regiment (1928, no. 4), Taras Shevchenko and the Lazarevsky brothers (1928, no. 4), noble estates in the Starodub region in the first half of the 18th century (September 1929), Panteleimon Kulish and Marko Vovchok (July–August 1929), and materials for the biography of Stepan Nis (September 1929). Harshly criticized by the Party officials in the 1930s, Lazarevska was dismissed from the VUAN in 1934, but in 1936 managed to find employment in the Manuscript Department of the National Library of Ukraine.
