Lomykovsky, Ivan

Lomykovsky, Ivan [Ломиковський, Іван; Lomykovs'kyj], b 1646 in Volhynia, d 1714 in Iaşi, Moldavia. Cossack officer. He was general chancellor under Hetman Mykhailo Khanenko, and in the 1670s he moved to Left-Bank Ukraine, where he became a member of the Hetman state government, as general standard-bearer (1689–91), acting hetman (1690), general osaul (1692–1707), and general quartermaster (1707–9). He strongly advocated Ukraine’s break with Moscow and knew about Hetman Ivan Mazepa’s negotiations with the Swedes. After the defeat at the Battle of Poltava he emigrated with Mazepa to Bendery.
