Maksymovych, Manasiia

Maksymovych, Manasiia [Максимович, Манасія; Maksymovyč; secular name: Михайло; Mykhailo], b ? in the Myrhorod region, d 13 July 1758 in Kyiv. Orthodox churchman. He graduated from the Kyivan Mohyla Academy and then taught German, Hebrew, and theology there (1746–9) and served as rector. He was also archimandrite of the Kyiv Epiphany Brotherhood Monastery (1755–8). An author and translator, he oversaw the publishing activities of the Kyivan Cave Monastery (see Kyivan Cave Monastery Press).
