Mystetstvo, arts magazine («Мистецтво»; Art). A bimonthly illustrated arts magazine published in Kyiv from January 1954 to December 1969. It was established as a revival of the pre-Second World War Obrazotvorche mystetstvo (1935–41) as the organ of Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture and the Union of Composers of Ukraine and the Union of Artists of Ukraine, it was edited by a board headed by Ivan Chabanenko (1954–8) and I. Korniienko (1958–69); the chief editor was Petro Hovdia. The magazine published popular articles on Ukrainian, Soviet, and Soviet-bloc art, music, dance, opera, theater, and film. Among the contributors were prominent Soviet Ukrainian figures in the arts. In 1970 Mystetstvo was succeeded by three journals: Obrazotvorche mystetstvo, Muzyka, and Ukraïns’kyi teatr.
