Thracian Hallstatt culture

Thracian Hallstatt culture. An early Iron Age culture of the late 2nd to early 1st millennium BC that existed in the Carpathian MountainsDanube River region. It has been studied intermittently since the late 19th century. Scholars regard the people of this culture as a proto-Thracian tribe. They engaged primarily in agriculture and animal husbandry; their metal-working was well developed. Approximately 30 sites of this culture have been found in Ukraine, including Holihrady, the Mahala settlement, Zalishchyky, and the Mykhalkiv hoard.
