Halych Gospel (1144) (Галицьке Євангеліє; Halyske Yevanheliie) (aka Krylos Gospel). The oldest extant dated text written in Western Ukraine (see Halych principality) and the oldest extant tetra-evangelium written in Ukraine. The text comprises 260 folios, of which folios 229–260 were added later, in the 12th or 13th century. The text was copied from a south Slavic source; the scribe introduced some features of the local dialect. The manuscript is preserved at the Moscow Historical Museum. It has been published in two not-quite-reliable volumes by Archimandrite Amfilokhii (Moscow, 1882–3). Its language has been studied by Vatroslav Jagić (1884), V. Le-Juge (1897), and E. Blokhina (1976).
