Kanadiis’kyi ukraïnets’ («Канадійський українець»; Canadian Ukrainian). Ukrainian Catholic weekly inspired by Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky. It began publication on 27 May 1911 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, under the name Kanadiis’kyi rusyn (Canadian Ruthenian). Financed until 1916 by Saint Boniface diocese under Archbishop A. Langevin, it sought to neutralize the influence of Protestant, Russian Orthodox, and secular ideas within the Ukrainian Canadian community. Supported by Bishop Nykyta Budka, it was an important organ of the Ukrainian Catholic church. In April 1919 it was renamed Kanadiis’kyi ukraïnets’. Burdened with debts resulting from costly libel suits by the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church of Canada during the 1920s, it was sold to a private company in 1927. The last issue appeared on 11March 1931. Among its editors were M. Syroidiv, Oleksander Sushko, Ivan Petrushevych, Rev M. Zalitach, Rev P. Oleksiv, Roman Kremar, I. Rudachek, T. Martsiniv, A. Zahariichuk, Volodymyr Bosy, and V. Biberovych.
