Khliborob (Curitiba) (Farmer). A weekly newspaper of a nationalist orientation published in Curitiba, Brazil, from 1938 to 1941 and from 1948 to 1974, when it was replaced by a monthly bulletin. It was a continuation of the weekly Ukraïns’kyi khliborob, which had been founded in Porto União in 1924 by Petro Karmansky and transferred to Curitiba in 1935. Both papers were published by the Ukrainian Union, which in 1938 was reorganized into the Union for Agricultural Education. In 1931 Ukraïns’kyi khliborob published a Portuguese supplement Vida Ukraina, and in 1938–40 Khliborob had a humor supplement Batizhok. Before 1941 the more noted editors of the two papers were Karmansky, Valentyn Kuts, I. Paliatynsky, and I. Horachuk. From 1948 the editors were Mykola Hets, S. Plakhtyn, and Oleksander Vashchenko.
