Kotorovych, Bohodar [Которович, Богодар; Kotorovyč], b 3 July 1941 in Hrubeshiv, Kholm region (now in Poland), d 4 July 2009 in Kyiv. Virtuoso violinist, conductor, and educator. Upon graduating from the Moscow Conservatory in 1966, he was appointed concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and soloist of the Kyiv Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1967 he lectured at the Kyiv Conservatory. In 1995 he founded a virtuoso music ensemble Kyivs'ki solisty (Kyiv Soloists) and was its conductor and music director until his death. In 1997 he became corresponding member of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts. Kotorovych won a number of international violin competitions; eg, in Bucharest (1967) and in Genoa (1971). He was one of the foremost Ukrainian violin educators and one of the founders of the so-called ‘Ukrainian school of violin playing.’
