Krylov, Vladimir [Крилов, Владимир], b 16 April 1841 in Pokrovskoe-Ramenia, Yaroslavl gubernia, Russia, d 6 February 1906 in Kharkiv. Physician and medical scientist. A graduate of the Saint Petersburg Medical-Surgical Academy (1868), he was the vice-president of the Kharkiv Medical Society and the first professor of pathological anatomy at Kharkiv University (1872–1902). He founded the Kharkiv Bacteriological Station and several prosectoriums in Kharkiv and was the first in the Russian Empire to introduce practical assignments in pathological histology. His works deal with infections of the brain membrane, heart disease, typhoid, the effects of syphilis on the lungs, trichinosis, and anthropometry.
