Masliuchenko-Hubenko, Varvara [Маслюченко-Губенко, Варвара; Masljučenko], b 2 December 1902 in Kharkiv, d 23 January 1983 in Kyiv. Actress; wife of Ostap Vyshnia. She mostly played heroic roles in the State Drama Theater (1918–19), the Shevchenko First Theater of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic (1918–19), the Franko New Drama Theater in Kharkiv (1923–6), the Kharkiv Chervonozavodskyi Ukrainian Drama Theater (1927–30), and the Kharkiv Theater of the Revolution (1931–4). She was arrested in 1934 and imprisoned in a concentration camp in the Soviet Arctic. After her release she acted in the films Poema pro more (A Poem about the Sea, 1958) and Lisova pisnia (The Forest Song, 1961, based on Lesia Ukrainka’s drama).
