Miliutenko, Dmytro [Мілютенко, Дмитро; Miljutenko], b 21 February 1899 in Slovianske, Tahanrih county, Oblast of the Don Cossack Host, d 25 January 1966 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (buried in Kyiv). Stage and film actor. He began his stage career in Slovianske (1920–3) and then worked in the Franko New Drama Theater in Kharkiv (1923–6), Berezil theater (1926–34), the Kharkiv Ukrainian Drama Theater (1934–6), and the Kyiv Ukrainian Drama Theater. Miliutenko’s extensive repertoire of dramatic and comic characters included Taras Shevchenko in Oleksander Ilchenko’s Peterburz'ka osin' (Autumn in Saint Petersburg) and Ivan Kocherha’s Prorok (The Prophet) and the Fool in William Shakespeare’s King Lear. In films he portrayed Volodymyr Vynnychenko (Shchors, 1939), Hetman Mikołaj Potocki (Bohdan Khmel'nyts'kyi, 1941), and Commandant Uskov (Taras Shevchenko, 1951). His final role was that of the Father in Yurii Illienko’s directorial debut Krynytsia dlia sprahlykh (Well for the Thirsty, 1966).
