Myklashevsky [Myklaševs’kyj]. A family of Cossack starshyna and Russian nobility in the Chernihiv region. It originated most likely with Andrii (aka Andrushko Myklashechko), a registered Cossack of Chyhyryn company in Right-Bank Ukraine in 1649. His son, Mykhailo A. Myklashevsky, was colonel of Starodub regiment in 1689–1706. Mykhailo's sons, Andrii (d 1752), Stepan (d 1750), and Ivan (1740), began the family's senior and junior Starodub lines and the Hlukhiv line. The senior Starodub line included the economists Ivan Myklashevsky and Oleksander Myklashevsky and their brother, Mykola (13 July 1860 to 9 June 1909), a member of the first Russian State Duma from Chernihiv gubernia. The Hlukhiv line included Andrii (19 July 1801 to 1895), the owner of a porcelain factory in Volokytyne, Hlukhiv county, that was famous for its artistic wares. Prominent members of the junior Starodub line were Governor Mykhailo P. Myklashevsky and the musicologist Yosyp Myklashevsky. Mykhailo's son Oleksander (1798–1831) was a lieutenant colonel of a Russian guard regiment who was exiled for his involvement in the Decembrist movement to the Caucasia, where he died in battle in Dagestan. Mykhailo's younger sons and their descendants owned large estates in Chernihiv gubernia and Katerynoslav gubernia in the 19th and early 20th centuries. They established a line of the family in Katerynoslav.
