Myly, Dezyderii [Милий, Дезидерій; Mylyj, Dezyderij] (Dezider Milly), b 7 August 1906 in Kyjov, Sabinov county, Slovakia, d 1 September 1971 in Bratislava. Ukrainian artist. He studied at the Prešov Teachers' Seminary (1922–6) and the Prague Higher Applied Arts School (1926–33) and taught art at the village school in Orlov (1935–43), Slovak University in Bratislava (1947–9), and the Bratislava Higher School of Fine Arts (1949–71), where he served as rector in 1953–7. He produced lithographs, woodcuts, charcoals, watercolors, and oil paintings. His works include genre paintings and landscapes of the Prešov region, such as Peasants (1934), Without a Job (1939), Funeral (1942), Easter Monday (1948), and Rocks in the Country (1969). An exhibition catalog of his works was published in Bratislava in 1971. A gallery of his works was opened at the Svydnyk Museum of Ukrainian Culture in 1983.
