Ozarkevych, Ivan I. [Озаркевич, Іван; Ozarkevyč], b 5 December 1826 in Hlyboke, Galicia, d 8 February 1903 in Bolekhiv, Dolyna county, Galicia. Priest and civic leader; son of Ivan Ozarkevych and father of Nataliia Kobrynska. A moderate populist, he was a deputy to the Galician Diet (1867–76) and the Austrian parliament (1873–91). He was opposed to the New Era policy and in 1895 headed a large Ukrainian delegation to Vienna to protest before the emperor the widespread abuse of power in the recent elections in Galicia. He wrote occasional sermons and poems.
