Pankivsky, Severyn [Панківський Северин; Pan'kivs'kyj], b 24 April 1872 in Ryshkova Volia, Jarosław county, Galicia, d 10 January 1943 in Lviv. Stage actor, director, and translator. He acted in the troupes of Marko Kropyvnytsky (1897–8, 1900–3), Mykhailo Starytsky (1898), and Panas Saksahansky (see Saksahansky's Troupe) (1903–5) and in the Ruthenian People's Theater in Lviv (1905–6). He directed and acted in Sadovsky's Theater (1906–17), the State Drama Theater (1918–19), the Shevchenko First Theater of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic (1919–21), and the Romny Ukrainian Theater (1921–3). He acted in the films Koliivshchyna (1933) and Prometheus (1936). He translated plays by H. Heijermans, G. Zapolska, E. Rostand, and William Shakespeare and in the 1930s wrote the memoir Shliakhamy zaviianymy za synioiu ptashkoiu (Following Snowed-over Paths in Pursuit of a Blue Bird).
