Poletyka [Полетика]. A family of Cossack starshyna in Left-Bank Ukraine (possibly of Right-Bank origin). The founder was Ivan, a Cossack of Lubny regiment in 1649. His descendant Pavlo was a fellow of the banner in Lubny regiment who died in the 1709 Battle of Poltava. Pavlo's son, Andrii (1692–1773), was mayor of Romny (1727–9) and a fellow of the banner and fellow of the standard (1749–57) in Lubny regiment. Andrii had five sons, among them Andrii Poletyka, Hryhorii A. Poletyka, and Ivan Poletyka. In the 18th and 19th centuries Hryhorii's son, Vasyl Poletyka, Ivan's sons, Mykhailo Poletyka and Petro Poletyka, and their cousin, Hryhorii I. Poletyka, were civic and cultural figures. Their descendant Volodymyr (1886–?) was a zemstvo official, marshal of the nobility in Myrhorod county, and senior secretary of the Hetman government's mission in Vienna in 1918–19.
