Pontic Kingdom (Pontus). A Hellenized Persian state in northeastern Anatolia founded ca 364–302 BC. It reached its zenith under its last king, Mithridates VI Eupator (ca 115–63 BC), who annexed the Bosporan Kingdom (107 BC) and the ancient states on the northern Black Sea coast. Pontus became a Roman province in the 1st century AD.
