Radzykevych, Yuliian [Радзикевич, Юліян; Radzykevyč, Julijan], b 4 July 1900 in Vyshenka Mala near Horodok (Lviv region), Galicia, d 4 February 1968 in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. Physician, civic leader, and writer; brother of Volodymyr Radzykevych. He served as an artillery officer in the Ukrainian Galician Army and then studied medicine at the Lviv (Underground) Ukrainian University and Charles University in Prague (MD, 1927). He practiced medicine in Sudova Vyshnia and headed the county committee of the Ukrainian National Democratic Alliance. During the Second World War he organized and directed a hospital and provided medical aid to the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. He emigrated via Austria to the United States of America (1949), where he became director of a tuberculosis hospital. Besides many short stories he wrote the historical novels Polkovnyk Danylo Nechai (Colonel Danylo Nechai, 2 vols, 1961), Polum’ia (The Flame, 1963), and Zoloto i krov (Gold and Blood, 1967).
