Schools for workers' youth [школи робітничої молоді; shkoly robitnychoi molodi]. Night schools for students who worked full time, established in 1943 in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The schools offered the equivalent of grades five through seven in seven-year schools or grades five through ten in ten-year schools. Graduates of the schools were eligible for admission to higher educational institutions. In 1962 there were 2,105 schools for workers' youth, with 469,000 students, in the Ukrainian SSR. In 1958 these schools were renamed evening secondary schools for workers' and rural youth, and in 1971 they were renamed evening secondary general-education schools.
