Sudan grass (Sorghum sudanese; Ukrainian: sudanska trava). An annual herbaceous plant of the family Gramineae, a leafy bush 50–300 cm in height. Highly drought resistant, it was introduced in Ukraine in 1912 and is now cultivated in steppe and forest-steppe regions for green fodder, hay, silage, and grazing. The popular brands in Ukraine include Odesa 25, Myronivka 10, Black Sea, and Dnipropetrovsk 876. Sudan grass is planted as an after crop in mixed planting with soybean, sunflower, etc (see Sorghum).
