Tymchenko, Marfa [Тимченко, Марфа; Tymčenko], b 55 March 1922 in Petrykivka, Novomoskovsk county, Katerynoslav gubernia’ d 26 March 2009 in Kyiv. Master of Petrykivka painting; wife of Ivan Skytsiuk. She studied at the Petrykivka School of Decorative Painting (1936–8) under Tetiana Pata and at the Kyiv School of Folk-Art Masters (1938–41) and worked at the Kyiv Experimental Plant of Artistic Ceramics (1954–77), where she decorated clay, porcelain, and wooden tableware, vases, and other objects. She has also designed fabric, posters, books, and murals (eg, in the Kazka toy store in Kyiv, together with Skytsiuk). She is best known for her paintings on paper and cardboard, such as Blue Birds (1966), Bear Family (1972–3), Rain in Sedniv (1975), Strength and Tenderness (1980), Village under a Mountain, Bridge, Holosiieve Forest, and Flowering Birches. An album of her works was published in 1974.
