Ukrainian Review, The. An English-language quarterly journal of politics, history, and culture, published since 1954 in London by the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain; since the mid-1960s the Canadian League for Ukraine's Liberation and the Organization for the Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine have been copublishers. The journal supported the OUN (Bandera faction) and the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations. It covered political developments in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, with particular focus on the national question and the plight of the non-Russian minorities; devoted considerable attention to the dissident movement and democratic movement in Ukraine; and published reviews of Soviet and non-Soviet books. The first editors were Volodymyr Derzhavyn and Vasyl Oreletsky. From 1965 Slava Stetsko served as chief editor and head of an editorial board that has had such members as V. Bohdaniuk, Rostyslav Yendyk, Nicholas Chirovsky, Lev Shankovsky, A. Bedrii, Oleh Romanyshyn, M. Savchuk, and Mykhailo Sosnovsky. The journal ceased publication in 1999.
