Vakhnianyn, Ostap [Вахнянин, Остап; Vaxnjanyn], b 25 March 1890 in Stryi, d 31 August 1924 in Uzhhorod, Transcarpathia. Educator and cultural activist. After graduating from Lviv University in 1914 he taught briefly at a Lviv gymnasium and then joined the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen. After the First World War he lived in Uzhhorod where he was one of the founders of the Ruthenian Theater of the Prosvita Society in 1921. He also founded a branch of the Plast Ukrainian Youth Association in Uzhhorod, published its paper Plastun, and wrote two handbooks, Plast and Plastovyi pidruchnyk (Plast Handbook).
