Velykyi Bychkiv [Velykyj Byčkiv]. Map: VI-5. A town smt (2001 pop 9,430) on the Tysa River in Rakhiv raion, Transcarpathia oblast. It was mentioned in historical documents at the end of the 14th century. In the interwar period it was an active center of the Ukrainian nationalist movement in Transcarpathia. Under Soviet rule it was promoted to smt status (1947). Today it is an industrial town with a wood-chemicals manufacturing complex (est 1868), forest-products manufacturing complex, canning factory, and handicrafts factory.
