Volodava [Володава; Polish: Włodawa]. Map: II-4. A town (2006 pop 13,630) on the Buh River and a county center in Lublin voivodeship, Poland. It has a 17th-century castle which belonged to the Potii family. On the eve of the Second World War approx 27 percent of the county's population was Ukrainian, 30 percent Polonized Ukrainian (kalakuty), 33 percent Polish, and 10 percent Jewish. After the war all the Ukrainians were forcibly resettled.
