Zaiachkivsky, Mykola [Заячківський, Микола; Zajačkivs'kyj], b 21 November 1870 in Tyshkivtsi, Horodenka county, Galicia, d 11 February 1938 in Lviv. Civic and business organizer. A graduate in theology and law of Lviv University, he was director of the Ukrainska Besida Theater (1900), inspector and then director of Narodna Torhovlia in Lviv, and a leading member of Saint Raphael Galician and Bukovynian Emigrant Aid Society. During the First World War he was deported to Siberia by the Russian authorities (1914–17). With the outbreak of the Revolution of 1917 he worked in the co-operative movement in Kyiv (1917–18). After the war he served as president of a number of organizations, such as the Burgher Brotherhood, the Ukrainian Emigrant Aid Society (1925–38), Sokil (1922–33), and the Ridna Shkola society (1936–8). He was a member of the Trade and Industry Chamber in Lviv and an honorary member of the Union of Ukrainian Merchants and Entrepreneurs.
