Zhurba, Andrii [Журба, Андрій; Žurba, Andrij], b ?, d July 1768 in Bloshchyntsi near Bila Tserkva. Cossack rebel leader. He led a detachment of 300 haidamakas during the Koliivshchyna rebellion of 1768. Aided by forces under Mykyta Shvachka, they took the fortified town of Fastiv and raided the estates of Right-Bank Ukraine landowners. Zhurba was killed in battle with Russian troops dispatched by Catherine II to suppress the uprising. He was celebrated in folk dumas as a counselor to Maksym Zalizniak.
