Bytkiv. Map: V-5. Town smt (2001 pop 4,271) in Nadvirna raion, Ivano-Frankivske oblast, in the northeastern part of the Gorgany Mountains. The town has oil and gas wells. Oil has been produced in Bytkiv since the end of the 19th century; the peak year was 1925. In the 1920s and 1930s Bytkiv was the largest producer of oil in Galicia after Boryslav.
