American Relief Administration

American Relief Administration. A United States agency founded in 1919 to administer aid in war-ravaged Europe and headed by H. Hoover. In 1921–3 it supplied food, clothing, medicine, and other necessities to Ukraine and southeastern Russia, which had been stricken by famine of 1921–3.
