Haidamaka, Dmytro [Гайдамака, Дмитро; Hajdamaka; real name: Вертепов; Vertepov], b 7 February 1864 in Lukovskaia near Piatigorsk in Caucasia, d 9 May 1936 in Dnipropetrovsk. Stage impresario, actor, and theater director. He began his acting and directing career in Marko Kropyvnytsky’s troupe in 1891. From 1897 to 1917 he managed his own troupe, consisting of 40–60 actors and a choir of 30–40 people, and staged classical and contemporary plays, operas, and operettas. Thereafter he worked with various troupes, including those of the Staline Ukrainian Drama Theater (1927–34), the Leningrad Zhovten Theater, and the Dnipropetrovsk Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater (1934–6).
