Myron, Dmytro [Мирон, Дмитро; pseudonym Orlyk], b 5 November 1911 in Rai, Berezhany county, Galicia, d 25 July 1942 in Kyiv. Nationalist revolutionary leader. In the 1930s he studied law at Lviv University and was active in the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). As secretary of youth on the national executive of the OUN (1932–3) he was arrested by the Polish authorities and sentenced to five years in prison. In 1941 he led the Southeastern Expeditionary Group of the OUN (Bandera faction) (see OUN expeditionary groups), and upon reaching Kyiv in October of that year he became regional commander for central Ukraine. He was arrested by the Germans and killed during an escape attempt. He wrote a number of articles on ideological questions, including ‘Ideia i chyn’ (Idea and Deed, 1940).
