Osipovsky, Timofei [Осиповский, Тимофей; Osipovskij, Timofej], b 2 February 1765 in Osipovo, Vladimir gubernia, Russia, d 24 June 1832 in Moscow. Russian mathematician. After graduating from the Saint Petersburg Teachers' Seminary, he lectured at Kharkiv University (from 1805) and served as rector (1813–20). He was the author of a three-volume treatise Kurs matematiki (A Course in Mathematics, 1801–23), which covered function theory, differential equations, and variational calculus and was a basic university textbook for many years. He also worked in the fields of physics, astronomy, and philosophy. One of his students was Mykhailo V. Ostrohradsky.
