Oświęcim, Stanisław

Oświęcim, Stanisław, b after 1605, d September 1657. Polish memoirist. As marshal of the court of Grand Hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski and an attendant at the court of King Władysław IV Vasa he took part in Polish diplomatic missions and military campaigns against the Crimean Tatars, Cossacks, and Swedes. He kept a daily diary, of which fragments for the years 1643–7 and 1650–1 have been preserved. Excerpts were published in Kievskaia starina (1882, nos 1–2, 5–6, 9, 11–12).
