All-Ukrainian Council of Military Deputies

All-Ukrainian Council of Military Deputies (Vseukrainska rada Viiskovykh deputativ). Elected by the Second All-Ukrainian Military Congress (18–23 June 1917), the council consisted of 132 members and a presidium. At the Third All-Ukrainian Military Congress (2–12 November 1917) the number of members was increased to 158. The council was a representative body in the Ukrainian Central Rada, together with the All-Ukrainian Council of Peasants' Deputies and All-Ukrainian Council of Workers' Deputies, party, municipal, and provincial representatives, and others. It worked closely with the Ukrainian General Military Committee, headed by Symon Petliura. The council was involved in a constant struggle against the Russian Provisional Government and the soviets of soldiers' deputies.
