Celtic coins. The coins produced by the Celts were mostly imitations of the silver tetradrachmas of Philip of Macedonia and the gold staters of Alexander the Great. They appeared in western Ukraine during the La Tène period. Hoards of Celtic coins were found in Skomorokhy in Sokal county, Mukachevo, and Rozavlia in the Maramureş region. Celtic coins were unknown, however, in eastern and central Ukraine.
