Hoffmann, Max

Hoffmann, Max, b 25 January 1869 in Homberg, d 8 July 1927 in Bad Reichenhall, Germany. German general. The chief of staff of the German eastern front from August 1916, he headed, with R. von Kühlmann, the German delegation that signed a separate treaty with the Ukrainian National Republic at Brest-Litovsk (see Peace Treaty of Brest-Litovsk) in February 1918.
