Illinska, Varvara

Illinska, Varvara [Іллінська, Варвара; Illins'ka], b 19 November 1920 in Izhevsk, Udmurt Autonomous Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Russia, d 11 December 1979 in Kyiv. Archeologist. A specialist on the Scythian period, from 1945 she worked at the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. She is the author of numerous articles and several books, including Skify dneprovskogo lesostepnogo Levoberezh’ia (The Scythians in the Forest-Steppe on the Dnipro River’s Left Bank, 1968) and Ranneskifskie kurgany basseina r. Tiasmin (VII–VI vv. do n.e.) (Early Scythian Kurhans of the Tiasmyn River Basin [7th–6th Century BC], 1975), and a coauthor of the chapter on the Scythian period in vol 2 of Arkheolohiia Ukraïns'koï RSR (The Archeology of the Ukrainian SSR, 1971).
