Irshava

Irshava [Iršava]. Map: V-4. Town smt (2001 pop 9,515) on the Irshava River at the foot of the Volcanic Ukrainian Carpathians and a raion center in Transcarpathia oblast. It was first mentioned in 1341. It has an abrasives plant, an industrial-machine-repair plant, several food-processing plants, a cotton-textiles mills, and a furniture factory. Lignite coal, limestone, and marble are mined in its vicinity.
