Kashchenko, Vasyl

Kashchenko, Vasyl [Кащенко, Василь; Kaščenko, Vasyl'], b 1812 in Pidhorodnie, Katerynoslav county, Katerynoslav gubernia, d 15 December 1894. Horticulturalist and forester. For over 50 years he developed new fruit trees at his estate Pryiut in Katerynoslav gubernia. He was one of the first agronomists in the Russian Empire to introduce shelterbelts and urged their application in steppe fruit farming.
