Kolodub, Zhanna

Kolodub, Zhanna [Колодуб, Жанна], b 1 January 1930 in Vinnytsia. Composer; wife of Lev Kolodub. A graduate of the Kyiv Music School (violin and piano) and Kyiv Conservatory (1954), she has taught piano at the conservatory since 1952. Her works (some in collaboration with Lev Kolodub) include a ballet for children, Thumbelina (1969), based on Hans Christian Andersen’s story; a musical comedy Merry Girls (1968); a musical, Adventure on the Mississippi, based on Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn (1971); a suite for symphony orchestra, Kyiv Lyrical Portraits (1976); two dance suites (1961, 1965); Nocturne for flute and harp (1965); Poem for flute and piano (1966); concertos for instruments with orchestra; chamber music; children's music; and the arrangements of folk songs.
