Kompan, Olena

Kompan, Olena [Компан, Олена], b 19 March 1916 in Yenakiieve, Katerynoslav gubernia, d 18 July 1986 in Kyiv. Historian. After 1950 she worked as a research associate of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. Most of her works deal with Ukraine up to the 18th century, particularly with the history of cities and the working class. One of her more important works is Mista Ukraïny v druhii polovyni XVII st. (The Cities of Ukraine in the Second Half of the 17th Century, 1963).
