Kovalenko, Ihor

Kovalenko, Ihor [Коваленко, Ігор], b 16 March 1935 in Kyiv, d 19 October 2019 in Kyiv. Mathematician and cyberneticist; full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR since 1978. A graduate of Kyiv University (1957), he worked at the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1957–61) and the Moscow Institute of Electronic Machine Building (1962–71). After 1971 he was the head of a department of the Institute of Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR and a professor at Kyiv University. Most of his research deals with probability, queuing theory, and reliability.
