Kurpita, Teodor

Kurpita, Teodor (Курпіта, Теодор; pseud: Теок; Teok), b 12 May 1913 in Remezivtsi, Zolochiv county, Galicia, d 31 March 1974 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Poet, writer, editor. A postwar displaced person in Germany, he edited the literary-artistic journal Ridne slovo and the satirical magazine Ïzhak-Komar. His poetry was published in a number of collections, including: Na dospivakh vesnianykh (At Spring Songfests, 1934), Not a Pass: liryka (Not a Pass: Lyrics, 1946), and Blakytni troiandy (Blue Roses, 1966). He also published a collection of short stories, Otets' z zolotym sertsem (A Father with a Heart of Gold, 1937), and a collection of satirical sketches, Karykatury z literatury (Caricatures from Literature, 1947).
