Lavrov, Pavlo

Lavrov, Pavlo [Лавров, Павло], b 12 July 1903 in Radivtsi, Letychiv county, Podilia gubernia, d 1 June 1973 in Kyiv. Marxist historian. A graduate of the Kyiv Institute of People's Education (1933), he chaired the department of the history of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic at Kyiv University (from 1939) and served as dean of the history faculty. He wrote books on the peasant movement in Podilia gubernia in the first third of the 19th century (1946), the workers’ movement in Ukraine in 1913–14 (1957, doctoral dissertation) and 1910–14 (1966), and Soviet Ukrainian historiography on the workers’ movement in Ukraine in 1912–14 (1962).
