Maksymovych, Mykola I.

Maksymovych, Mykola I. [Максимович, Микола; Maksymovyč], b 7 March 1855 in Kyiv, d 14 March 1928 in Kyiv. Hydraulic engineer and designer. A graduate of the Institute of Road Engineers in Saint Petersburg (1878), he designed and supervised the construction of the river port in Kyiv (1896). He was a professor at the Kyiv Polytechnical Institute (from 1900) and head of the hydrological section of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (from 1919). He wrote important works on the Dnipro River and its watershed, electrification of the Kyiv region, and regulation of the Dnipro River in Kyiv.
